Power issues…
Since yesterday (Sunday), I’ve been having some very strange happenings concerning my power. Lights dimming, blinking, and power going out completely. I’m guessing the crazy Santa Ana winds are to blame, since they’ve been outta control lately.
Anyway, if you have tried to reach the site and it’s been unavailable, it’s because my server has had the power cut several times.
Reggae: The Gladiators – Studio One Singles (2007)…
Well….for all classic reggae fans out there, you’re in luck. One of the greatest (in my opinion) harmony reggae groups, The Gladiators, have a new album out. Actually, this is really just a compilation of previously released tracks, but never released in CD format. This CD is a great example of that 70′s sound that Studio One is known for. If you like having the ‘versions’ or dubs of vocal tracks, they’re included. Plus, two 12″ mixes to round out the release (‘Pretending’ and ‘Happy Man’).
My favorites on this are definitely ‘Bongo Red’ and ‘Roots Natty’. I could listen to those tracks for…???…hehehe.
Overall, like I said, if you are into the classic reggae of the 70′s, this is one to pick up. Another “heartical roots compilation from one of the top rasta groups from the golden age of Jamaican music.”
R.I.P. Lucky Dube
The world has lost a great soul. Lucky Dube was shot dead in a hijacking near Johannesburg yesterday evening while dropping off his son. We left a link below in case you would like to read about the incident, as well as some highlights of his triumphant life here on earth. Lucky said it: “nobody can stop reggae because reggae is strong”. His music, his spirit, and his love will be alive for ever.

Headaches…
Man…my server is going on and offline today for seemingly no reason. I can’t figure it out. I spent some of my time creating the neato background that you’re seeing (as long as you’re smart/cool enough to be viewing at anything larger than 800×600). I also busted out with a new header/logo for both the blog and the main site (feel free to give feedback..[hehehe...who am I talking too?]). Plus, I added a mailserver and then pow, massive trouble. I have Googled way too many times today…..my eyes are throbbing from the abuse.
Maybe my question from yesterday has angered the internet gods….
Time for dinner and a movie…
Bowling For Columbine….finally
Hehehe…so I finally sat down to watch Michael Moore’s film called ‘Bowling For Columbine.’ My reaction? Holy shit. I had heard, when it first came out, how good it was and how everyone needed to see it. Now I see why. After watching it though, I was reminded of a question that I had come up with back when Fahrenheit 9/11 came out. Here goes:
Why is it that people who loved ‘Bowling For Columbine’ and said it was a great film/documentary, were suddenly anti-Michael Moore movies/docu-style after Fahrenheit?
I realize that a persons political perspective definitely had an impact on whether or not that person would like Fahrenheit, but to go from “loving” his documentaries to “he doesn’t make ‘documentaries’, he’s biased, and that guy sucks” seems pretty retarded.
Reggae: The Biggest Reggae One-Drop Anthems 2007
Greensleeves releases the 2007 version of The Biggest Reggae One-Drop Anthems and once again, it’s a great, easy way to hear some of the nicest conscious tunes of this year. The first track in the lineup is “People’s Choice” by Ray Darwin. This is a killer tune on the Mean Girl Riddim (Studio One). I personally have been hypin this track up since I first heard it a while back. Next is another boom tune called “Rastafari Anthem” by Alborosie. This is on the Last War Riddim, which should be very familiar to any reggae listener, since this is the same riddim that Collie Buddz’ track “Come Around” rides. The next favorite on this sampler is Mr Easy’s track called “Strangest Thing”. The track is a great addition to the many anthems out there that biggup the international herb.
All in all, this album is a nice compilation of what’s been happening on the conscious reggae scene for 2007. There are definitely some tracks that I would have personally nixed, but no compilation can make every listener happy. ![]()
Again, do yourself a favor….go out and buy this one.
Ranting
Wow … I have been an internet consumer for so long it feels strange being on the inside. Creating something that can be viewed by anyone anywhere(except a few places that like to restrict the freedom of their people) … It’s an empowering feeling, I almost feel drunk with the limitless potential my words have to impact people I would have virtualy no chance of meeting face to face. With these few words I begin my adventures into a world constructed of 1′s and 0′s that trick us, creating the false reality that is the INTERWEBS.
