New Heiruspecs Album (hip-hop)…
I know a LOT of peeps are easily awed by the ‘live’ hip-hop groups and think that because there are live instruments, it’s automatically something to dig. Although I am a fan of being able to play instruments…especially being able to play them well, I don’t consider it a ‘you’re dope’ free card.
This new release by Heiruspecs (10 Years Strong) is nothing I’m gonna be bumpin on the regular. It suffers from the same thing that most “live” hip-hop bands suffer from: Bland beats that all sound the same. I’m not totally hating on this album, but I did find it rather blah. And like I said, too many live acts are exactly the same. If you like The Roots, this ain’t them. Go out and give a listen to judge for yourself though (as is always my recomendation about anything).

Gone Baby Gone Review…
Another movie to add to the list that I enjoyed. Gone Baby Gone is very well made and asks its’ audience some tough questions about what is really ‘right’ or ‘wrong.’ An added bonus: Morgan Freeman (good in everything) and Ed Harris (another actor I am a fan of). Basically, this is about a private detective and his girlfriend/partner that are hired to help track down a missing child in Boston. The movie definitely throws you for a few loops and just when you think it’s over, it’s not. A nice directorial debut for Ben Affleck.
So, do yourself a favor…go out and get yourself a copy of this. I’d say it’s worth having the DVD of, which is scheduled to be released Feb. 12, 2008. For more info, trailer, etc. CLICK HERE.

Um…appologies to anyone that might have seen that massive broken links post over the weekend. For some reason, all the image links broke and I didn’t notice until today. Everything is fixed now…but the post looked busted until now. Learning new stuff about this blog thing all the time. Cutting and pasting directly from an e-mail is obviously not the best way to post images to one’s blog…hehehe.

Beowulf Review…
Man, I wanted to see this ever since the first preview I saw and imediately looked away from. My reason for looking away? I’m sick of previews nowadays. They keep showing more and more of the movie…and there’s always a very good chance they’re gonna show you key stuff that the viewer would be better off seeing in the actual movie. Because I never saw much of a preview, I was pretty surprised to find out that this movie wasn’t live action. Being the fan of CGI that I am, this was a pleasant surprise. I gotta say, this movie is dope. Some great action sequences, some gore, cool story, great visuals. I’m actually looking forward to watching it again once I can get the Hi-Def version. And, even though I’m sick of the hype about Jolie, I have to admit that she provides some very nice eye candy in this. Props to the costumer designer on that one..hehehe.
So…final verdict? Do yourself a favor and watch this bad bwoy. It’s worth it.
