Blog fixed!

March 11th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

brokenWell, for quite a while now, I know that some people trying to view this blog were having major issues. Depending on the browser you were using, things coulda been lookin pretty nuts. And although I was completely aware of the problem, I ran around and looked for solutions many times and just could not figure out why and what was going on. I just figured (hoped) that since most people use Internet Explorer and it automatically wants you to update and use the latest version, that there were more people viewing the site correctly, than those that saw the mess.
Anyway, I apologize to anyone that tried to view the site and saw that mess instead of the content. Last night, I stumbled upon the solution to my blog woes and I’m stoked. The problem itself was pretty retarded and had nothing to do with my .CSS or .php. In fact it had nothing to do with how my blog was setup or built at all….it was those pesky video codes that I had posted in some entries. Anyway, if anyone else is noticing that their blog is showing all crazy, check each of your posts (on it’s own page) and make sure each one displays correctly on its’ own. If it doesn’t, it will/can throw off your entire blog when it’s being displayed on your front page with multiple posts.

I hope that made sense to the readers that might be lookin for a solution to their own problems….if not, comment and I’ll try to elaborate. (read more about my issues HERE)

**So for those that are seeing this correctly for the first time: “Welcome, dope isn’t it?…heheheh”

1 Terabyte Optical Disks on the horizon…

March 10th, 2008 | Category: News

CD Being ShockedIt is called the TeraDisk and it is really small, like a ordinary CD/DVD. But it’s really huge in terms of space. 1 TB (1000 GB). How can this be done? The process is easy (or not). All existing optical media record data on semitransparent layers. A regular CD has 1 layer and a Blu-Ray disk has up to 8. The reason nobody can add more layers on a regular CD/DVD/Blu-Ray disk is because when the light passes through these layers it becomes distorted and by the time it reaches the final layers it becomes almost impossible to read/write on the disk.

TeraDisk achieved the 1TB limit by using 200 layers, each storing 5GB of data. So basically the data support stay the same (TeraDisk will be made out of the same plexiglas like material used in other disks) but the write/read laser technology is completely new. They say it’s going to be cheap and it will be available for the public in 2010.

Basically, this is great news. One of the problems that I’ve encountered consistantly over the years is lack of storage space. I remember back in the day I bought a 120Gig external drive and thought that I’d never need another HDD ever. Hehehe…about a year or two later I was adding a 160. Nowadays I won’t buy smaller than 500GB drives. But the only reason I don’t buy larger is price. With these new superdisks on the way, I’m stoked. It will make backing up a serious media library up a sinch. Bring em on….

Pirating Site: Audiomaxx.com Shuts Down…Finally…

March 07th, 2008 | Category: News,Reggae

audiomaxx-busted_finallyHooray! Finally, the site called Audiomaxx has been raided, arrests been made, and shut down. For how long? I have no idea, but let’s hope forever. This site has been around for a long time and has been known to sell massive amounts of pirated material. Meaning, they sell CD’s and DVD’s by tons of hard working artists and make a grip of money without giving any of that money to the folks that created the goods in the first place. I heard the news yesterday evening and wanted to make sure to spread the word. I’ve never been a fan of that site and always hoped that it would be shut down. Instead of focusing efforts on individuals that download music and movies and never make a profit, authorities should spend their time on sites like Audiomaxx that are the true pirates. There’s a ton more information on this bust HERE and HERE.

Many artists and D.J.’s were very outspoken about hating this site, as well as many of the groups that actually rip music to create mp3′s. Nobody likes people making money off pirating….except probably the people that are lame enough to do it.

peace,
zOnker

*Note: Audiomaxx specialized in ripping off reggae artists.
