Warning For Filesharers (p2p): Fake Movie Files…

June 15th, 2008 | Category: News

3wPlayer LogoWhile browsing the net, I came across this little piece of info and figured it’s probably a good idea to spread the word. I’m not into the p2p scene, but I don’t believe that practices such as this should be used (or be legal). Also, it’s my personal opinion that file-sharing isn’t the ‘devil’ that the mega-corporations try to make it out to be. So, with that…here’s the info:
WARNING: Members of an Anti-P2P Piracy Group are spreading a malicious fake movie file to hunt P2P users with! It comes out in many variations, usually looking like this: (AVeryRecentMovieTitle)[2008]DvDrip[Eng]-aXXo.avi file. When you open this file it will ask you to download a compatible player called 3WPlayer. DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT! It is a malicious program containing Trojan.Win32 viruses! Whatever the movie name variant it comes camouflaged under, it is always Size: 701.58MB (or 735,663,716B) and TTH: 5PLWTH46UI433BS3BMRYEFUYRXCL2WU7UFIHECQ For some more info see: 3wPlayer Malware Infected Torrent Spreading or Wikipedia 3wPlayer. If you already got such files, maybe try: Some Random Blog.

Like I said, this is just something I came across and was moved to share. I’ve never heard of the 3wplayer, and from a quick search, it looks like it’s not ‘brand new’ by any means, but a little warning for folks never hurt anybody.

Beer: Peroni Nastro Azzurro…

June 13th, 2008 | Category: Drinks

peroni-birra-capThis Italian import is pretty widespread, at least as far as I’ve seen in most of California, but does that make it any good? Well, to me, this beer isn’t exactly what I’d be grabbing for when I’m beer hunting. I don’t know how to explain it, but the flavor reminds me of Italian food….which is perfect since it’s an Italian brew. Although I love Italian food, this beer leaves me with a barely satisfied palate. It’s very light and the aftertaste reminds me of a ‘skunky’ beer. The only reason I’m even reviewing this one is that a friend brought over a sixer for us to split a while back and I had one left in the fridge. I’ve actually had these a few times over the course of my drinking career, and although it’s not at all undrinkable, it’s just not a flavor that I look for in a beer.
Verdict: If you’re out at an Italian restaurant and wanting to keep things ‘legit’, go ahead and order one…or if someone offers you them for free, take advantage. Other than that, move over a lane toward the American microbrews at your local grocer.

Here’s another in the ‘reggae wallpaper’ series. I just finished these last night…so here you go. These are in widescreen format 1680×1050. I couldn’t decide which one I liked better, so here’s two different versions. Feedback is appreciated.

Full Sail Brewing – LTD Series, Recipe Number 1…

June 10th, 2008 | Category: Drinks

Full Sail LTD SeriesMmmm….this is a good beer. If you haven’t yet heard, Full Sail has started brewing a series of beer that have been titled “LTD Series”. Lucky for me, I was keeping my eyes peeled for something new to try and noticed the green Full Sail label that I’d never seen before. Upon closer inspection, I read that they were doing limited runs of different recipes under this new umbrella title of LTD. I liked the idea…and was hoping that I’d like the beer as well. Sure enough, this ‘recipe number: 01′ is well worth the $6.
As for flavor, it’s not a very heavy beer. Being that the warm weather is steadily creeping, that’s definitely a good thing. Hot days/nights don’t seem to jive well with thick, heavy beers for me. This stuff packs a decent alcohol percentage too. At 6.4%, it’s not overwhelming, but it’s well above the low-flavor, macro-brew domestic competition’s average content. This stuff is pretty smooth and has a very mild aftertaste. If I knew more about the fancy labeling of beer flavors, I’d definitely be able to pinpoint what exactly the most dominant flavor in this is, unfortunately, I don’t.
I can recommend this to anyone looking for a good micro that fits in with the Spring/Summer seasons. Unfortunately for us…they’re already serving up recipe number 02. So get these while you can.

*You can find these at Trader Joe’s.

peace,
~zonker
