breaking bad
One of my friends recommended this show to me a while back and I gotta admit, as soon as I heard that Bryan Cranston (the Dad from Malcom In The Middle) was in it, I was convinced it’d be good. I’ve since finished watching the series and man….I was friggin hooked from episode one. The first season aired early this year (2008) and luckily, it’s been picked up for a second season. The first season was extremely short, only seven episodes, but a LOT happens. Hehehe….this show is pretty nuts. There’s a couple of events and scenes (episode 2 & 3) that my girlfriend was so repulsed by, she refused to watch the rest of the episodes…heheh. I, on the other hand, couldn’t wait to watch each one.
I can honestly recommend this to all my friends out there. As usual, I don’t want to give away too much, but just to get peeps motivated to grab this; here’s the summary:
Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family’s financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in this world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White’s releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.

This is an AMC original series (which surprised me) and I can only hope they continue to put out this level of quality programing in the future. Main site: CLICK
