Reggae: DJ Boomshot Q103 Maui’s Most Wanted Reggae Radio Show…
Hello everyone. Back when I moved up to Chico in the mid 90’s, I was a fan of reggae music, but I didn’t really have too much knowledge on the subject. I really didn’t have any friends that were that into it and so my scope was very limited. Soon after my move, I discovered Chico’s community radio station (KZFR) and a couple of reggae shows that aired on it. One of the DJ’s was named Boomshot and I started recording his shows and then making mixtapes from my favorite parts. So, with Boomshot’s excellent taste in reggae music, I was introduced to a ton of bands and entertainers that I’d never heard of…or had heard of, but never actually heard. Basically, DJ Boomshot helped me learn a ton about the genre and really helped to introduce me to so many of reggae’s illest entertainers. After graduating and leaving Chico, I continued to bump those old mixes and just stayed really interested in this great music known as reggae.
DJ Boomshot also left Chico and moved to the island of Maui. We stayed in contact (barely…hehehe) through email over the years. Just recently he sent me an email announcing that he was back on the radio with his own reggae mixshow on Q103 in Maui. He also sent me links to the commercial free versions of those shows. So, with his permission, I’m going to start posting them here for TrendyInk visitors to enjoy. Enjoy the vibes:
