Amazon River: Woodpecker Vs Snake…

November 18th, 2009 | Category: Funny/Etc.

So, you just read that title and thought to yourself, “No contest. How could a woodpecker possibly front on a friggin snake?” Right? Hmmm…this is the Amazon folks. These animals/reptiles/fish aren’t ‘normal’. They live in a rough ass place and are generally more badass than their cousins in more mellow parts of the world. Peep game:

This woodpecker is badass. Not only does he get bit repeatedly (on the face!), but he decides to come back for more. Imagine that you are a woodpecker that spent days bangin your face into a tree to dig a hole out that you could call home, only to find a giant carnivore snake has decided to take over your domicile while you were out grabbin some lunch. If a woodpecker can hollow out holes in a tree, imagine what that beak is doing to the snake when he’s attacking it. That can’t feel good…then again, getting bit on your face can’t feel too good either. Nuts…

When You’re A Baby, Everything Is New…

November 16th, 2009 | Category: Funny/Etc.

Think about it, when you’re first squirted into the world, everything that happens is brand new. Some things never get old though:

Hehehe…imagine if you had a condition where you were scared of your own farts. I guess that Bromidrophobia is close: Fear of body smells. You’d think that there’d be a cute name for this condition, but checking here doesn’t list it…hehehe.

Art: EyeWriter Gives Paralyzed Folks The Freedom Of Creativity…

November 13th, 2009 | Category: Graffiti/Art

Tempt aka Tony Quan was a graffiti artist whose name, many folks, might recognize. He can no longer paint traditionally due to becoming paralyzed from the debilitating affects of Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Peep game on how technology is offering another chance at freedom of expression:

Wow…what a cool vid. I bet homie is beyond stoked to be able to produce creations again. Imagine having it stuck in your head and not being able to physically act it out any more.

Some Graffiti Pics From Zhengzhou China…

November 13th, 2009 | Category: Graffiti/Art

Yes, you read correctly: Graffiti in China!

My girlfriends Dad flys out to China all the time and luckily for us, he saw some graffiti and took the time to shoot some pictures of it. These were taken in Zhengzhou (China). Who’da thunk that China had any graffiti at all, much less quality works like these ones. I’m not gonna try and guess any of the artists names, but if any of you visitors know em, feel free to leave a comment and educate our asses.

*Big thanks to Mr. Lang for these (now you’re photography is world famous!).

FRONTLINE: Sick Around The World…

November 13th, 2009 | Category: News

Obviously the health-care issue is and has been in everyone’s faces for quite a while now…and for good reason. Check out this piece done by Frontline called ‘Sick Around The World’ to get your learn on. I keep hearing folks say things that sound so ignorant about this issue. I think watching this little diddy might help some folks see the ‘bigger picture’:

It’s amazing how sometimes the solutions to problems seem so simple and yet it’s almost impossible to get the solutions to be put in place. The United States is the ‘melting pot’. How hard is it to take a look around the world, find things that work for other countries, and adopt/restructure according to ‘proven methods’. There are plenty of examples around the world regarding health care systems and track records to see how well they work. It seems obvious that with the United States being the only developed country on the planet that doesn’t provide health care that there is a problem.
It’s amazing how many times I’ve heard people claim things like, ‘Canada? Their system doesn’t work though. They have waiting lists years long for treatments and people have to come to the USA to get proper care.”
It’s cool that Frontline decided to do a little investigating and spread some inside knowledge on this matter.

*Before you comment: Did you watch the video?
