Movie: Valkyrie…
I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I hadn’t watched any previews and, as usual, tried to stay away from as much info about the movie as I could, so that I could watch it ‘fresh’ and judge for myself. As I’ve said before, avoiding sway from mob mentality or being influenced by bash-happy critiques is often times crucial to giving a movie a fair shot. First off, what this movie is about is dope. I had no idea that this was based on actual events or that it was going to be a bit of a history lesson mixed in with regular Hollywood entertainment. I’m sure many folks that lived through that time in Germany would be very happy to know that this side of the story is being told on such a large scale. I won’t go into any specifics about the movie, but I’d just like to say that it was an enjoyable experience and I’m definitely glad I watched it. The ‘true events’ aspect made it that much more entertaining to me.
For those of you with nice home theaters, you’re in for a treat with the sound. I thought my couch was going to crumble apart during a couple of the action scenes.
