Art/Graffiti: Banksy Filmed Painting For The First Time…

Category: Graffiti/Art

Banksy is involved with a new film called “Exit Through The Gift Shop” and as part of the promotion, did a painting for the cover of ‘The Sunday Times Magazine’…which they filmed. They also did an interview with him. Check out the quick clip of Banksy in action:

I’m definitely a fan of Banksy’s work and dig a lot of what he’s done. He’s like the ultimate punk rock/reggae voice in a visual medium. Not only are his messages usually smart and on point, but he’s damn good as an artist as well. Here’s an excerpt from his recent interview with ‘Sunday Times’ regarding ‘illegal’ graffiti:
“I still paint graffiti because I genuinely think the side of a canal is a more interesting place to have art than a museum,” he counters. “And the fact of the matter is, if you exhibit in a gallery you have to compete against Rembrandt, but if you paint down an alley you only have to compete against a dustbin. I guess it’s the art equivalent of hanging around with fat people to make yourself look thin.”
