Celph Titled and Buckwild - Nineteen Ninety Now - 2010
Celph Titled teamed up with D.I.T.C. (Diggin In The Crates) crew member Buckwild on this release called “Nineteen Ninety Now”. For those of you out there that dig the aggressive and violent rap stylings of folks like Ill Bill or Jedi Mind Tricks, this is probably an album you’ll love. What sucks about this release, for me, is that it’s got the cool 1990′s production, but it’s paired with the previously mentioned aggressive and violent rap style of Celph Titled. Back in the day, I used to dig Celph Titled, and actually, some tracks are still in rotation, albeit rarely. This album is one of those that I’d love to be able to strip out the MC (including the guest appearances) and keep the beats. As far as this being a good or bad album, I’m just saying that it isn’t up my alley, and the reason for it is purely the vocals. I just don’t get the ‘murder-rap’ thing. How many times can you rap about other MC’s suckin your wang? Obviously a lot. That whole East coast crew (Army of the Pharoahs, Jedi Mind Tricks, etc.) has pressed a shitload of albums and have a lot of fans to prove that their style has a solid following.
Anyway, cool production, but I’d say it’s wasted on this release.

peace,
