Bob Marley Film: Africa Unite…
I stumbled upon this full-length release of the Bob Marley documentary/concert fil called Africa Unite, and wanted to share it. I haven’t taken the time to view the full movie yet, but here it is for those of your that are interested.
Info about the film: AFRICA UNITE is a singular and masterfully executed film by Stephanie Black that is at once concert tribute, Marley family travelogue, and humanitarian documentary, igniting the screen with the spirit of world-renowned reggae icon BOB MARLEY in its every frame. In commemoration of Bob’s 60th birthday, AFRICA UNITE is centered on the Marleys’ first-time-ever family trip to Ethiopia in 2005. Includes rare footage of Marley.

Check out this dude Dub FX do his thing live on the street in Amsterdam:
I gotta say that this is the type of music that I need to see being performed to get the most out of it. Had I just heard the CD without the visuals and seeing the whole track be built up and then executed, I don’t think I’d of dug it that much. That’s not a diss to Dub FX, just a little something I know about myself. Pretty dope idea though…beatbox, reggae, and hip-hop mashed-up and performed live. Fresh.

If you’ve seen that dope flick ‘District 9′, then most likely you’ve already heard at least some of this track. This was played at the end as the initial credits start to roll. Funky fresh flavor packed in this dope reggae, downtempo, dubplate remix…
I’m not usually a fan of Youtube videos that are just a track without the actual ‘music video’, but in this case, this is the only option I could find to share it with ya’ll. This track is dope!

Reggae: Inner Circle – State Of Da World – 2009…
I just got around to checking out Inner Circle’s latest release titled ‘State of da World’. I was immediately inspired to post about it because I was pleasantly surprised with it…or at least the first few tracks. ‘Dis Life’, ‘Gun Ting’, and ‘Blood A Run’ with Jr. Reid are all good. I also dig that track ‘Never Give Up’ featuring Screw Driver. I have never been the biggest fan of Inner Circle’s music. They do have some bangers out there, but overall, they’re not a band that I’d put in my ‘go to’ list. That being said, that’s the main reason I felt like posting up about the new album. I hear a lot of albums from a lot of bands that don’t have one good track on them, much less a handful. There are enough keepers on this to merit the post though.
Some weaker tracks, or tracks that don’t do it for me, like ‘Down in Africa’, ‘Love Song’, ‘Put Love First’, or the Intro with Mutabaruka (who I’m almost never a fan of listening to). All these tracks are heavy on the R&B sound, which I’m never a fan of.
Big up to the Inner Circle gang for bringin the niceness after all these years in the game.

I stumbled upon this randomly, so I thought it best to share with folks. I’ll definitely be searching this one out and hopefully I’ll remember to bust out a little review to give peeps a better idea of what to expect.
If anyone has had a chance to peep this, feel free to bust a comment and share some more info.
